Questions To Ask When Looking For Vizsla Hunting Dogs

vizsla hunting dogsRemember this bit of information...the cheapest and easiest part about owning a dog is buying it! While price is no certain guarantee that you are getting a top qualtiy dog it is important to ask certain questions so you can be more assured on what you are buying.

Vizslas are one of the top hunting dogs in the world and in high demand and if you are looking for one ask these questions from the breeder; Can I see the parents? If the parents of the dog you are buying are there to see if would be a good indicator of what you are getting. Has the parents of the puppy you are buying been OFA'd or CERF'd and had any vet screenings? Has the puppy been temperment tested? Will the breeder guarantee any health conditions of the puppy? Can you return the dog at any time to the breeder if you find you cannot take care of it?

These questions are all vital to finding the right Vizsla hunting dog, and any dog for that matter. So be sure and ask away so you won't be sorry later.

Exercising Your Vizsla Pups

We all know that you have to give your puppy's plenty of exercise and this is true for all dogs but here we are concerned about Vizslas and this video shows perfectly a creative way to get your Vizsla pups energy out.

Of course nothing beats breaking out the collar and leash and taking them for a walk or run or even for some play time in the park but if you live in a apartment or if it is just a really crappy weather day outside this is a unique idea to get your Vizsla pup some exercise.

The video is pretty self explanatory if you do not own a long cloth tube then just a cardboard box will do. Vizsla of course love to run, fetch and retrieve and they will do this over and over again. It is not only good exercise but it is also fun for them and teaches them confidence.

Hungarian Vizsla Owner Has Dog Day Care And Training Facility

hungarian vizslaAlan Lozier has the perfect business for him. He runs a dog day care and training facility in Cape Neddick, Mass. that goes well with his background of years of dog training. He calls it Seacoast Canine Works and he does small group training for dogs and he also involves a doggie playschool where he incorporates play time with training and snack time.

He has 15 - 17 dogs right now but is hoping to build it up to 30 soon since his program is only months old he plans on doing just that.

Lozier's love for dogs is evident. He owns a boxer who is 10 years old named Rocky, a 2 year old bulldog named Zeke and his new addition is a Hungarian Vizsla that is 18 months old who is his companion in hiking partner.

Alan loves what he does and finds it rewarding turning dogs around that are unruly with positive reinforcement and love.

Press Secretary's Husband Day In The Slammer For Their Vizsla Dog

vizsla dogAs reported earlier White House Press Secretary Dana Perrino loves her Vizsla dog but that same Vizsla got her husband Peter McMahon in a bit of trouble.

It happened last year in November but is still worth Vizsla news on this blog. As it goes McMahon was doing the dastardly deed of walking his Vizsla dog in Lincoln Park just east of the Capital without a leash. Oh no!

When an officer asked McMahon to "gain control of" your dog, whose name is Henry and also to "put him on a leash" McMahon responded that he did not have one. This is where it gets bad.

The officer gave him a violation notice along with a small fine of 25 dollars. He then wished the officer on his way with a "why don't you go chase down some squirrels."

Long story short, McMahon had 15 days to pay the fine, which he didn't because he claims he did not have an address on the ticket of where to send it in. He finally did send the money to the Park Police eventually and mailed it in. But it was too late. A warrant was issued for his arrest and when he did try and clear up the now delinquent fine at the parks department he was arrested and spent a night in the slammer.

All for the love of a Vizsla dog.

White House Press Secretary Bought Vizsla Puppy For Company

vizsla puppyDana Perino, the White House Press Secretary is a certified 'Bushie.' But she also loves her home country of England and admits to still be madly in love with her husband. But in the 90's way before she was busy working for the President of the United States, she did not have a job. To keep her company she bought a dog, a puppy to be exact. A Vizsla puppy she named after Henry VIII.

Dana knew that Henry was a good puppy when she was told he came from a breed of champions where his father had won Best of Show at Crufts. Dana really didn't know what that meant but she knew her Vizsla puppy was special.

She currently works hard at her job which she loves but does try and get back to her home to see family, friends and her Vizsla whenever she can.

Being A Responsible Vizsla Dog Breed Owner

vizsla dog breedThe Vizsla dog breed is a wonderful pet and hunting dog. Any family or hunter would be lucky to own one. A properly raised Vizsla truly is your best and most loyal friend. But the key words are properly raised.

To be a responsible Vizsla dog owner you have to give them all the proper training, gently discipline, plenty of exercise and good nutrition. This is true with any dog breed but if you want your Vizsla, who are a great dog to own, to be all they can be you have to be a responsible pet owner.

Vizslas are lively and fearless and they need plenty of exercise. A bored Vizsla will do what any bored dog will do - act destructive. Be sure you get them out and running 30 min. to an hour a day at the minimum.

Exercise, a good diet and lots of love combined with good training will garner you the most out of your Vizsla dog breed.
