Vizsla Breeds Like Other Dogs

vizsla breedDoes your Vizsla breed dog do the darnedest things? At Dog Central, presented by Pedigree they attempt to explain why.

For instance is your pet like many others that loves to dance around, spin in circles before he finds a spot to pee, chase his tail or burrow his head and face in the blankets? Then you (and your dog) are not alone. Many people want to know the answers to these silly questions. And most of them are pretty simple.

For burrowing their face in the blankets it may just be for the same reason we fluff our blankets and want them tucked around us just right before we go to sleep - for comfort. Terriers, hounds and huskies are the most likely to want their beds just so.

As far as wandering around and circling before they pee, it could be that they are checking the terrain for predators before they relax and relieve themselves and also to check out who was there before them with their keen sense of smell.

As far as them chasing their tail? Experts can only come up with, "because it's there" or the fact that they have an itch, which makes more sense. Plus it provides them, and you, with some entertainment.

Vizsla Dog Diet

vizsla dogYou may have a special diet that you keep your Vizsla dog on but you might not have heard of this recipe; liver bread. We know it probably sounds about as appetizing to you as it does to us but by the looks of the Vizsla in the picture, he seems ready to pounce on the stuff.

Dog Chef Melissa swears by the Liver Bread and Barf diet for her 4 - legged friends which she passed on to her friend Kit Richards, a Vizsla breeder in California.

The ingredients to the liver bread are basically, 1 lb. beef liver, 2 cups flour and ½ teaspoon garlic powder. Sounds simple enough. For more details on this tasty treat go to panamagourmet.blogs.com.

Vizsla Puppy Videos Just Too Cute

I was scouring YouTube for some Vizsla puppy videos and came across the cutest videos of adorable, clumsy, tumbling, playful, chewing, barking, climbing all over their owners Vizsla puppies.

Then I came across this one. I'm sorry but I just could not resist this video. It was just too good to pass up and not share with all Vizsla lovers. An adorable Vizsla puppy snoring away and sounding just like Grandpa sleeping. Yeah, I know there is not much action but you gotta admit it's hard not to love this one.

Will Vizsla Dogs Do Tricks?

The answer is of course a resounding, yes. The Internet is full of videos of Vizsla dogs doing everything from climbing up trees to rolling over and playing dead, sitting, jumping and like this great video shows...taking a running leap and diving into a lake. Of course that is the hunting nature of these great animals. Throw something in the water and they will fetch and retrieve dutifully (although I did not see anything being thrown in the water in this video.)

No other dog breed does it all quite like the Vizsla dog. What a well rounded personality you get when you have one of these as your family pet or your favorite hunting companion.

Now, will they cook you dinner and do your laundry? I've yet to see that but I wouldn't doubt it.

Family Picks Dog From Vizsla Breeder

This brief video shows a family visiting their 6 week old Vizsla dog they are going to take home from a Vizsla breeder. It shows a male and a female Vizsla and I am pretty sure the male is the one they are going to keep.

They are both so cute and playful and adorable! How could you choose which one to keep? Or a better question would be, how could you leave one of them behind?

I know when I picked out my Boxer dog we went to a breeder. There were 2 puppies left in the litter, both female. I wanted a female dog but I could not afford both of them. It was heartbreaking leaving one behind. We went to my parents house to show them the new addition to our family and when we told them about the last puppy left there they went back and got the sister for themselves. Our two Boxer's are still best friends and playmates when they get together and I am so glad that they are 'in the family.'

Vizsla Dog Fight?

vizsla dogIs this a picture of the lovable Vizsla dog breed fighting? Not a chance! This is actually an adorable picture of a Vizsla dog named Jackson playing at a dog park with her buddy Bruno, the Boxer.

The picture is actually taken from Bruno the Boxer's adorable family blog. It chronicles the life of Bruno and ends up at the dog park with the Boxer and the Vizsla dog playing quite energetically.

In fact the blog states that Jackson, the Vizsla was just way too fast for Bruno (although Bruno was still a puppy.) But the lightning speed of Jackson was noted as was also his playful and friendly demeanor with "more energy than he knew what to do with."

Excellent Vizsla Hunting Dog Video

This video says it all without speaking a single word. A video featuring Evelyn Hilbert who has been breeding Vizslas since 1964 and certainly knows why they are so excellent.

The video shows how they will win award after award in any dog show you enter them into and as the video states; Bloodlines count for a lot as they proffer a credibility earned only by the passing of time.

Then it shows the perfect example of the Vizsla hunting dog. Stout, sturdy, studious, adept and incredibly smart and resiliant. It is abundantly clear that these are the perfect pointers and retrievers.

Finally in part three of the video: Best Friends. What a warm, gracious and loving companion for you and your children.

Hungarian Vizsla - Best In Gundog Group

Hungarian VizslaThe Hungarian Vizsla is considered by many to be the best in the gundog group. Their origin is of course in Hungary where they are known as Drotszoru Magyar. They are really a compartively rare breed of dog and much sought after. But most importantly the Hungarian wirehaired Vizslas have a relatively small but rapidly growing number of enthusiasts that know them to be successful in many areas including the hunting arena as of course they are excellent pointers and retrievers in this area.

The Hungarian Vizsla has only been in the United States since the early 1990's. Amazing really considering they are so well known now and have gained a great reputation in such a short time.

The breed is respected for being bright, easy to train and most importantly - willing to learn. They are very people oriented and obedient. And despite their wirehaired name their hair is pretty easy to manage with very little grooming required.

But again it is important to remember that they are sensitive in nature and do not take easily to rough handling or training practices. A strong willed dog they are not.
