Hungarian Vizsla - Great Family Dog

Hungarian Vizsla
In Hungarian the term "Vizsla" actually means alert and responsive, both characteristics that are commonly used to describe the gorgeous Hungarian Vizsla dogs. Over the years, these extravagant pups have been used for work and hunters. They are also great companions and known to pick up there fair share of ribbons in the show rings as well. There dogs are amazing hunters with an enormous amount of agility. Since they are very active, the Vizsla requires a great deal of exercise, so this would not be a dog for an inactive individual or family. Though they are high energy, they also have a very affectionate side and crave human contact on a daily basis. It is also important that when training a new Vizsla puppy they discipline is sensitive and not over bearing. According to Vizsla owners they are great dogs around kids and an asset to any family.

Hungarian Vizsla - Best In Gundog Group

Hungarian VizslaThe Hungarian Vizsla is considered by many to be the best in the gundog group. Their origin is of course in Hungary where they are known as Drotszoru Magyar. They are really a compartively rare breed of dog and much sought after. But most importantly the Hungarian wirehaired Vizslas have a relatively small but rapidly growing number of enthusiasts that know them to be successful in many areas including the hunting arena as of course they are excellent pointers and retrievers in this area.

The Hungarian Vizsla has only been in the United States since the early 1990's. Amazing really considering they are so well known now and have gained a great reputation in such a short time.

The breed is respected for being bright, easy to train and most importantly - willing to learn. They are very people oriented and obedient. And despite their wirehaired name their hair is pretty easy to manage with very little grooming required.

But again it is important to remember that they are sensitive in nature and do not take easily to rough handling or training practices. A strong willed dog they are not.

Hungarian Vizsla Owner Has Dog Day Care And Training Facility

hungarian vizslaAlan Lozier has the perfect business for him. He runs a dog day care and training facility in Cape Neddick, Mass. that goes well with his background of years of dog training. He calls it Seacoast Canine Works and he does small group training for dogs and he also involves a doggie playschool where he incorporates play time with training and snack time.

He has 15 - 17 dogs right now but is hoping to build it up to 30 soon since his program is only months old he plans on doing just that.

Lozier's love for dogs is evident. He owns a boxer who is 10 years old named Rocky, a 2 year old bulldog named Zeke and his new addition is a Hungarian Vizsla that is 18 months old who is his companion in hiking partner.

Alan loves what he does and finds it rewarding turning dogs around that are unruly with positive reinforcement and love.
