What to Ask Your Vizsla Breeder to Ensure they are Credible

 vizsla breeder
If you are looking for a Vizsla Breeder here are some things to look for or ask to ensure you are purchasing a dog from a reputable breeder. The first is the breeder should have the dogs in the house as if they were part of the family; it is a bad sign if the dogs only live outside in kennel runs. If the dogs are excited to see people and they do not shy away from new individuals, it is a good sign that they have a happy healthy life. Before purchasing a puppy you should read up on the breed and then in person make sure that the puppy had the breed standards, such as size, coat, color and temperament. Make sure the breeder also has a relationship with the veterinarian and ask for reference from previous buyers so you can talk to them and see if they have been satisfied. Lastly, if you are looking for a pure breed, make sure the parents are AKC registered.

How To Recognize A Serious Vizsla Breeder

vizsla breederHere are some pointers to recognizing a serious, reputable Vizsla breeder so you know you are getting a good dog for your money.

First off, know that you need to ask questions and expect to get the answers you want before you buy. Ask if your breeder belongs to a National breed club such as the Vizsla Club of America. Also in many parts of the country there are local single breed clubs they should belong to as well as local all-breed dog clubs. They should participate in all three if they are a good breeder.

The breeder you are buying from should participate in showing and trialing their dogs. Breeders who don't will have no idea how good the breed should be and what their standards are. If they do show, this will encourage them to breed better.

You should always have your dog checked by a veteranarian before you complete the purchase. They will tell you what state of health the dog is in.

The breeder should give you a complete list of how to train you Vizsla dog, what to feed them and proper instructions on care and grooming.

Get documentation of the puppy's parents and their health. Have the parents been x-rayed and certified by the OFA and have they had their eyes checked? And how old was the female Vizsla when she first began breeding?

A breeder should not hesitate to give you all papers and reports on the puppy and it's parents. If you get all this and answers to any other questions you may have asked you should know if you are getting a good, healthy dog.

Family Picks Dog From Vizsla Breeder

This brief video shows a family visiting their 6 week old Vizsla dog they are going to take home from a Vizsla breeder. It shows a male and a female Vizsla and I am pretty sure the male is the one they are going to keep.

They are both so cute and playful and adorable! How could you choose which one to keep? Or a better question would be, how could you leave one of them behind?

I know when I picked out my Boxer dog we went to a breeder. There were 2 puppies left in the litter, both female. I wanted a female dog but I could not afford both of them. It was heartbreaking leaving one behind. We went to my parents house to show them the new addition to our family and when we told them about the last puppy left there they went back and got the sister for themselves. Our two Boxer's are still best friends and playmates when they get together and I am so glad that they are 'in the family.'
